Tips to take care of your countertops
Natural Stone (Granite, Marble, Quartzite, Soapstone)
- Daily Care:
- Clean with a soft cloth + mild soap. Avoid acidic/abrasive cleaners.
- Sealing:
- Seal yearly (except soapstone).
- Soapstone: Use mineral oil to refresh the patina.
- Avoid:
- No vinegar, lemon, bleach, ammonia.
- No scouring pads or steel wool.
- Wipe spills fast.
- Notes:
- Quartzite can etch—keep sealed and handle gently.
- Soapstone is soft—scratches can be sanded or oiled.
Engineered Stone (Quartz)
- Daily Care:
- Wipe with mild soap; dry to prevent spots.
- Stain Prevention:
- Clean dye-heavy spills quickly (turmeric, red wine).
- Avoid:
- No bleach, oven cleaners, or harsh chemicals.
- No abrasive pads.
- Notes:
- Heat-resistant, not heat-proof—use trivets.
- Always use a cutting board.
Ultra-Compact Surfaces (Dekton, Neolith)
- Daily Care:
- Clean with warm water; a gentle cleaner for tougher spots.
- Heavy Cleaning:
- Acetone or a safe degreaser works—rinse and dry well.
- Avoid:
- Don’t drag heavy items; edges can chip.
- Avoid repeated impact.
- Notes:
- Heat, UV, scratch, and stain resistant—no sealing ever.
- Works indoors and outdoors.
